Her academic credentials comprise a Bachelor of Science, Graduate Certificate in Education (Arts Education), Master of Educational Studies, and a PhD from the University of Queensland awarded in 2021. The focus of her doctoral research was student engagement in reading for enjoyment during the upper primary years, detailed in her thesis titled For the Love of Good Stories: A Narrative Inquiry into a Reading for Enjoyment Pedagogy (2022).
Dr. Green’s academic interests and research specializations include the integration of children’s literature in primary classrooms, reading instruction, and curriculum and pedagogy, with a particular emphasis on fostering reading development in primary students. She is the author of the book Classroom Reading for Enjoyment: Bestowing the Beauty of Book Blether (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024), which provides strategies for cultivating enthusiasm for literature among young readers. Other significant publications encompass the chapter “Who Am I as a Reader?” from her book (2024), “Building Communities of Engaged Readers in Australian Schools: Five Ways to Create Conducive Classroom Conditions for Student Engagement in Reading for Enjoyment” (Practical Literacy: The Early and Primary Years, 2023), “HARK! Hands up who really loves their classroom reading program? TRI this: three approaches to reading instruction” (The Australian Journal of Language and Literacy, 2022), and “Empowering Pre-Service Teachers as Enthusiastic and Knowledgeable Readers” (Education Sciences, 2025). As a lecturer in literacy and English teaching, she emphasizes high-quality children’s books and participates actively in the Departing Radically in Academic Writing (DRAW) group. Her contributions advocate for the prioritization of reading for enjoyment within primary education curricula.
