Professor Min "Maggie" Xu is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Business & Economics faculty at the University of Detroit Mercy's College of Business Administration, where she joined in 2010. She earned her Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, with a doctoral dissertation on corporate bankruptcy. Her earlier degrees include an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Nanjing University in China. Xu teaches Financial Management, Corporate Finance, and Management of Financial Institutions. She values interactive teaching, noting that 'Teaching should never be a one-way delivery from professors to students. Rather, the interaction and input from students are essential for me to customize learning models for them. By working together, we can create an active and enjoyable learning process.'
Xu's research specializations and academic interests focus on corporate bankruptcy, particularly information generated during Chapter 11 bankruptcy and involvement of various groups such as hedge funds. Her areas of expertise include financial management, management of financial institutions, corporate bankruptcy, and hedge funds.
