Misty Grant, PhD (she/her), CMHC/S, NCC, serves as Professor and Residential/On-Campus Program Chair in the School of Counseling, Psychology & Therapy (CPT), Counseling Division at Antioch University Seattle. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education & Supervision with an emphasis in Trauma and Crisis from Walden University in Minnesota, a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Utah, and a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise & Sport Science with a focus on sports psychology from the University of Utah. With over a decade of experience in clinical mental health counseling, education, and supervision, Dr. Grant has held key leadership positions, including Director of Mental Health Services at the Utah Department of Corrections and Director of Clinical Services at Phoenix Recovery Center. In these roles, she developed and implemented comprehensive treatment programs for patients with addiction, dual diagnoses, severe persistent mental illness, and incarcerated individuals. For the past ten years, she has specialized in addiction treatment, mental health services, and trauma survivor services for adults, while continuing her practice as a clinical mental health counselor, supervisor, and researcher.
At Antioch University Seattle, Dr. Grant is the Program Director of Curriculum for the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, both CACREP-accredited programs. She leads the Addictions Counseling course, oversees program accreditation, and ensures curriculum alignment with professional standards. Her research interests focus on evidence-based practices in addiction, comorbidities, trauma, PTSD, and supervisory alliance. As a counselor educator, she emphasizes discussion-based and experiential learning, integrating theory with practical skills through activities, games, assessments, and technology to build students' counseling toolboxes. Dr. Grant is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), NBCC Subject Matter Expert (SME), and member of the AMHCA Compact Committee. She is affiliated with the American Counseling Association (ACA), American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), Utah Mental Health Counselors Association (UMHCA), and American Counselor Educators and Supervisors (ACES).
