About Mohamed

Dr. Mohamed Eltorki is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, where he joined in September 2024 after relocating from McMaster University. He holds an MBChB and an MSc, along with FRCPC certification in General Pediatrics (2014) and Pediatric Emergency Medicine (2015) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Eltorki serves as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Specialist at Alberta Children’s Hospital and as a Child Health and Wellness Researcher at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute. He also chairs the Scholarly Oversight Committee for General Pediatrics PGME at the University of Calgary.

His research focuses on pediatric emergency medicine, with emphasis on acute and chronic pain management, abdominal pain disorders including appendicitis, constipation, and gastroenteritis, as well as trial methodology. He has led or contributed to multiple randomized trials comparing analgesics and has secured funding including CIHR support for the Keto-APP trial on pain treatment in children with suspected appendicitis. Prior grants include several Hamilton Health Sciences new investigator awards, a Ministry of Health innovation grant on kiwi effects for constipation, and the inaugural Team Builder’s Grant from McMaster’s Department of Pediatrics for a ketorolac dosing study. Dr. Eltorki is a recipient of an inaugural early career researcher award from IMPaCT and has received teaching awards while supervising graduate students.
