Masood's research focuses on dental public health, particularly oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL), barriers to dental care access for refugees and low-income populations, strategies for integrating oral health into primary care, and the economic burden of dental care in low- and middle-income countries. His work also covers epidemiological studies on malocclusion, periodontal disease, dental caries progression, and interactions between tobacco, betel quid, and alcohol in oral cancer etiology in South-East Asia. With 72 peer-reviewed publications garnering approximately 1,905 citations, standout papers are 'The relationship between oral health and oral health related quality of life among elderly people in United Kingdom' published in the Journal of Dentistry (2017, 281 citations), 'Impact of malocclusion on oral health related quality of life in young people' in Health and Quality of Life Outcomes (2013, 260 citations), 'The magnitude of tobacco smoking-betel quid chewing-alcohol drinking interaction effect on oral cancer in South-East Asia: A meta-analysis of observational studies' in PLOS One (2013, 179 citations), 'The impact of out-of-pocket payments for dental care on household finances in low and middle income countries' in BMC Public Health (2017, 161 citations), 'Household expenditure for dental care in low and middle income countries' in PLOS One (2015, 108 citations), and recent efforts like 'Strategies to integrate oral health into primary care: a systematic review' in BMJ Open (2023) and analyses of public dental service utilization among refugees in Victoria, Australia (2023). Masood's contributions inform policy and practice aimed at improving oral health equity worldwide.
