Morgan Buchs, PhD, serves as Assistant Professor-Educator of English Composition, bringing expertise from her extensive background in literature and rhetoric to her teaching in Literature and related fields. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, she earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Writing Studies in 2022, with a dissertation entitled "Dispositions and Dual Credit: A Study on Student Attitudes toward Writing," which examines student attitudes in dual-enrollment writing programs. She also holds an MA in English: Literary and Textual Studies (2018) and a BS in Education (2016) from the same university, laying a strong foundation in literary analysis, textual studies, and educational pedagogy.
Since joining the University of Cincinnati in 2022, Dr. Buchs has focused on delivering online asynchronous and hybrid courses within the Composition program. She skillfully merges her research specializations—writing transfer, dispositions toward writing, dual-credit experiences, writing program administration, and labor-based contract grading—with innovative pedagogical practices to cultivate active-learning spaces. These environments enable students to enhance their writing abilities, cultivate generative dispositions, and apply their skills across diverse contexts. Dr. Buchs's influence in the field is demonstrated through key publications, such as her peer-reviewed article "Expanding Horizons: Teaching Native American Multicultural Literature in the Secondary Language Arts Classroom" (Virginia English Journal, 2019). Her book chapters include co-authored works like "Negotiating Plural Identities Through Transfer and Antiracism: Program Alignment at Bowling Green State University" in Threshold Conscripts: Rhetoric and Composition TAships (2023), "Scaffolding into FYC: Bridging the Secondary and Postsecondary Writing Experience to Develop Generative Dispositions" in Beyond the Frontier: Innovations in FYC, Vol. IV (2025), and "Investigate and Invest in Supportive Spaces: Doctoral Programs that Accept and Enhance the Experiences of Graduate Student Parents" in Parenting While PhDing (2025). Furthermore, she contributes to academic discourse through presentations at major conferences, including the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
