Dr. Muhammad Awais serves as a sessional instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria. He earned a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Queen’s University and completed his PhD at the University of Victoria, with a thesis focused on a numerical study comparing convectively forced hydrostatic and non-hydrostatic mesoscale processes.

Dr. Awais has taught a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses at the University of Victoria, including calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and discrete mathematics, as well as courses at Camosun College and Vancouver Island University. His research interests center on applied mathematics, particularly differential equations and their applications to fluid dynamics and related fields. Publications include works on nonlinear instability for the Boussinesq equations, thin film flows of non-Newtonian fluids, and applications of the Laplace transform method, appearing in journals such as Nonlinear Analysis (2018), Applied Mathematics and Computation (2015), and others from 2008 to 2018.
