Nancy A. Bradley serves as Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Director of the Office of Academic Programs in Virginia Tech's School of Education within the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, specializing in teacher education and literacy, from Virginia Tech. Prior to joining the Virginia Tech faculty in 2019 as an assistant professor of practice in the Elementary Education program, Bradley was an associate professor and director of the teacher education program at Ferrum College. She was promoted to associate professor of practice and appointed associate director effective August 2021. In these roles, she oversees graduate programs, including as director of the Curriculum and Instruction program, and focuses on innovative degree, certificate, and licensure initiatives to address teacher shortages, data-informed decision-making, and diversifying the PreK–16+ education workforce in partnership with InclusiveVT and EdEquityVA. Bradley contributes to faculty governance through service on multiple School of Education committees.
Dr. Bradley's scholarly work includes the co-authored article 'Building Community in a Pre-Service Teacher Cohort During a Pandemic' with Donna Fogelsong, published in The Teacher Educators’ Journal (Volume 14, Spring 2021, pp. 43–60). She has held leadership positions such as president and executive director of the Association of Teacher Educators–Virginia (ATE-VA) and serves as an appointee to the Advisory Board for Teacher Education and Licensure. Committed to public service, she dedicated 12 years to the Salem City School Board, including as chair, advocating for students, teachers, and families. Additionally, she has been Co-PI on the Southwest Virginia Clinical Faculty Grant and provided expert commentary on educational topics, such as cell phone policies in schools, featured in WSLS media coverage in 2024. Her professional expertise encompasses teacher education, literacy, and program development.
