Nanfeng Zheng is a Professor of Chemistry at Xiamen University. He received his B.S. degree from the Department of Chemistry at Xiamen University in 1998 and his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Riverside in 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he served as a research associate at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2007, he joined Xiamen University as a full professor and has held the position of Cheung Kong Professor since 2010. He is affiliated with the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces.
Professor Zheng’s research focuses on the surface and interface chemistry of functional nanomaterials, with interests in multi-functional nanoparticles, nanoparticle-based catalysts, nanoclusters with well-defined structures, and nanomaterials for catalysis, energy, environmental science, and biological applications. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, including representative works such as “Surface coordination layer passivates oxidation of copper” in Nature (2020), “Photochemical route for synthesizing atomically dispersed palladium catalysts” in Science (2016), and “Interfacial Effects in Iron-Nickel Hydroxide Platinum Nanoparticles Enhance Catalytic Oxidation” in Science (2014).
