L.O. Natt Gantt II is Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the High Point University Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law, a role he assumed in September 2022 after more than two decades in legal education. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and political science from Duke University, a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Prior to High Point University, Gantt served as the inaugural executive director of Harvard Law School's Program on Biblical Law and Christian Legal Studies, as well as a lecturer on law. For 21 years, he held various leadership positions at Regent University School of Law, including professor, associate dean for academic affairs, and co-director of the Center for Ethical Formation and Legal Education Reform. His career reflects a commitment to advancing legal pedagogy through administrative innovation and curricular enhancement.
Gantt's research and teaching center on law school academic support, legal education reform, legal ethics, professional identity formation, law student and lawyer well-being, fostering integrity as a personal and professional value, the relationship between faith and the study and practice of law, and character formation among law students and lawyers. He recently published the article 'The Centrality of Spiritual Well-Being to Law Student Well-Being' and authored 'Law Schools' Pivotal Role in Lawyer-Leader Formation' in the American Bar Association's Law Practice Magazine (2023). Gantt has presented on ethical decision-making in uncertainty at the Christian Legal Society National Conference (2023), character and ethical formation at national law student programs, and the ethical implications of generative artificial intelligence in lawyering (2024). Recognized as a national leader in law student and lawyer well-being, he serves as an advisory member of the American Bar Association's Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP), where he chairs the Well-Being Committee. Additionally, he is a faculty presenter for the Christian Legal Society Fellows Program and a visiting fellow at the Mockler Center for Faith and Ethics in the Public Square at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, contributing to scholarly discourse and practical reforms in legal education.
