Dr. Nazanin Mohammadi is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Curtin University. She holds a PhD and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Systems Networking from Curtin University, along with professional qualifications including CCNA ITQ and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). With over 12 years of dedicated teaching experience, she has instructed undergraduate and postgraduate STEM students in computer systems and networking units. For more than a decade, she has developed and delivered laboratory materials for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. As one of the few certified Cisco Networking Academy Instructor trainers in Australia, she has significantly contributed to networking education. Currently, she serves as the Manager of the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired (CAVI) at Curtin University, enhancing accessibility in technical education. Her efforts extend to creating Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that have garnered over 150,000 enrollments and remote laboratory environments for science and engineering disciplines.
Mohammadi's research focuses on Computer Engineering, Educational Assessment, and Educational Leadership, particularly in e-learning modalities for vision-impaired students, remote laboratories, and accessible presentation of graphical educational materials. Her key publications include 'The Effectiveness of Applying Project-Based and Work-Integrated Learning Educational Strategies in Engineering Courses' (2024, with Siavash Khaksar, Yifei Ren, and Iain Murray), 'Developing Online Laboratories in Engineering Education' (2024), 'Remote Renewable Energy Laboratory: Green Electric Energy Park (GEEP)' (2017), 'Developing Methodologies for the Presentation of Graphical Educational Material in a Non-Visual Form for Use by People with Vision Impairment' (2013), and 'Mathspeak: An Audio Method for Presenting Mathematical Formulae to Blind Students' (2012, with Iain Murray and Azadeh Nazemi). She has received notable awards, including the Cisco Women in IT Award 2020 in the Academia category and the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Award in Innovation in 2015 for designing a remote collaborative engineering laboratory environment. Additionally, she has been involved in teaching and learning grants at Curtin University.
