Nobutaka Konaka is a Professor in the Department of Humanities, Faculty of Letters at Atomi University, specializing in Modern Japanese Literature. He holds a Master’s degree in Literature. Konaka has enjoyed a distinguished career at the institution, serving as President from April 2022 to the end of 2025, during which he led the “ATOMI PLAN 2025” to mark the university’s 150th anniversary. This initiative emphasized curriculum reforms, integration of career education from the freshman year, and the development of autonomous, self-reliant women equipped for self-realization and societal contributions. His leadership promoted personalized career path planning, challenging traditional gender roles in professions, and fostering exchanges with local communities through programs in tourism and community studies. Previously, he held positions as Dean of the Faculty of Letters, Board Member, and Auditor at Atomi Gakuen, and taught at Atomi Gakuen Women’s University Junior College.
Konaka’s scholarly work focuses on Modern Japanese Literature, with research projects on gender and family in Japanese literature and literature of the Meiji 30s. He has produced a substantial body of publications, including books *Study of the Magazine “Shumi”* (1984) and *Comprehensive Index of “Josei”* (1982).
