Noel Jacobs, Ph.D., serves as Associate Professor of Psychology and Clinical Faculty in the Petree College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma City University. He holds a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma, an M.S. from Southern Nazarene University, and a Ph.D. in clinical child psychology from the University of Kansas, completed in 2001. A lifelong Oklahoman, Dr. Jacobs returned to Oklahoma City in 2003 and joined Oklahoma City University that year. He was appointed Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology in 2022. With 21 years of experience teaching undergraduates and graduates, as well as postdoctoral trainees in child psychology, he provides direct services and psychological testing to children and families. Dr. Jacobs has 19 years of licensed practice as a clinical health service psychologist.
Dr. Jacobs' academic interests center on health-related quality of life, multidimensional well-being, the adolescent-to-young-adult transition, self-management of chronic illness, teaching effectiveness, and longitudinal quality of life in children with chronic illnesses, including inflammatory bowel disease. His key publications include 'Variability of Psychosocial Services Within the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Multidisciplinary Care Landscape' (2023, Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition), 'Disease Severity and Depressive Symptoms in Adolescents With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: The Mediating Role of Parent and Youth Illness Uncertainty and Quality of Life,' and 'Depression Screening in Pediatric IBD Clinics: Recommendations and a Toolkit for Implementation' (2019). He has contributed to integrated care models for pediatric patients and holds 290 citations across 24 publications on ResearchGate. Outside academia, Dr. Jacobs is Executive Director of the Respect Diversity Foundation, Past President and Vice President of The Interfaith Alliance of Oklahoma, and chairs the Beyond Coexistence initiative. Since 2005, he has delivered public lectures to community organizations and students on preventing bullying, fostering positive social climates, cultural humility, intercultural exposure, and community involvement. He co-hosts the podcast 'The Elephant In The Room: Unboxed' and serves on the Advisory Board for Oklahoma City University's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
