Oksana Zhuk is an Associate Professor of Economics at Tarrant County College's Northeast Campus, affiliated with the Business & Economics faculty at the Tarrant County College District Office. She plays a key role in delivering economics education to community college students, covering topics such as microeconomics and macroeconomics principles essential for business and economic decision-making.
Dr. Zhuk obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from The University of Texas at Dallas School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences in Spring 2011. Her dissertation, supervised by Professor Barry J. Seldon, is titled "Advertising Effects of Beer Consumption Among Young Adults with a Consideration of the Welfare Effects of Advertising in the Presence of Search Costs and Negative Externalities." This work analyzes the influence of advertising on beer consumption behaviors among young adults, evaluating welfare implications within frameworks of imperfect competition, incorporating search costs faced by consumers and negative externalities linked to alcohol use. During her time at UT Dallas, she participated in academic conferences, presenting research such as "Are Consumers Better Off with Horizontal Product Differentiation?" at the Southern Economic Association 2007 meetings. Following her doctorate, Dr. Zhuk joined Tarrant County College as faculty in Economics, where she was documented as an Associate Professor in 2020 public salary records. She also contributed expertise as a reviewer for the 9th Edition of Microeconomics by Glenn Hubbard and Anthony Patrick O'Brien, aiding in the development of instructional resources for economics pedagogy. Originally from Ukraine, Dr. Zhuk remains engaged with global economic and humanitarian issues, as evidenced by her commentary in the TCC Collegian on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
