Oluseun Olufade, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Emory University School of Medicine, promoted to this position in 2025. A faculty member in Medicine, he specializes in orthopedic sports medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his MD from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2007. Olufade completed a transitional internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital in 2008, residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University in 2011, fellowship in Interventional Spine at Temple University Hospital in 2012, and fellowship in Sports Medicine at Crozer Keystone Health System in 2013. He holds board certifications in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Sports Medicine from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, obtained in 2012 and 2013. His clinical focus includes non-surgical treatments for sports and orthopedic injuries, interventional spine care, ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopic-guided procedures, regenerative medicine, and orthobiologics, serving patients from youth athletes to professionals.
In his career, Olufade serves as head team physician for Atlanta United Football Club, Atlanta Vibe, and LovB Volleyball, and as a physician for the U.S. Soccer Physician Network, College Park Skyhawks, Emory University athletics, and several local high schools; he previously served the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Dream. He was elected president of the Johns Creek Healthcare Association in 2017 and received the Legislative Awareness Health Policy and Advocacy Fellowship from the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Olufade's research interests encompass musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, orthobiologics, ultrasound, regenerative medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. He has presented his work at regional and national conferences. Notable publications include 'Is diastasis recti abdominis associated with low back pain? A systematic review' (World Neurosurgery, 2023), 'Suggested curricular guidelines for musculoskeletal and sports medicine in physical medicine and rehabilitation residency training' (Current Sports Medicine Reports, 2021), 'Gender-specific hip strength disparities correlate with injury patterns in NCAA men's and women's soccer players' (PM&R, 2024), 'Calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder: a retrospective comparison of traditional barbotage versus percutaneous ultrasonic barbotage' (Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, 2022), and 'Amniotic dehydrated cell and protein concentrate versus corticosteroid in knee osteoarthritis: preliminary findings' (Regenerative Medicine, 2022).
