Dr. Patrice Nybro serves as a Full-Time Faculty member in the Business department at American InterContinental University - Ft. Lauderdale, with a focus on Business & Economics. Holding a Doctor of Business Administration in Finance from Northcentral University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science, both from St. John's University, she brings a robust academic foundation to her teaching. Nybro financed her own education through undergraduate and graduate studies before embarking on a successful 20-year career as a Wall Street executive. Motivated by her passion for teaching, she joined American InterContinental University in 2005 as a business faculty member, where she has taught finance courses including FINA310: Financial Management and FIN410.
Nybro distinguishes herself through her engaging teaching style, utilizing storytelling drawn from her Wall Street experiences to connect with students and impart real-world applications in business and economics. Her research interests encompass financial analysis and strategies to enhance student performance in online higher education. In a 2024 peer-reviewed article published in Cogent Education, "The effect of a belongingness strategy on online higher education student performance measures," Nybro and her co-authors from the School of Business analyzed the impact of a five-element belongingness strategy—student engagement, faculty empathy, student connection, student-faculty rapport, and sense of community—implemented in 10 undergraduate business courses, including her FINA310 class. The study revealed statistically significant improvements (p < .05) in key performance metrics such as completion rates, pass rates, persistence, retention, submission rates, and course grades, with large effect sizes. She has also contributed to the literature on workplace motivation through "The paradox of motivation: intrinsic-extrinsic motivation processes in the workplace" (2015) and related conference papers. Nybro's scholarly work, cited three times according to ResearchGate, underscores her influence in advancing pedagogical practices and business education.
