Paul S. Adams is an Associate Professor of Political Science in the Behavioral Sciences division at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he joined the faculty in 2006 following a visiting position at the University of Richmond. Promoted to Associate Professor in 2013, he served as Division Chair of Behavioral Sciences from 2014 to 2023. He also acts as faculty advisor to the Pitt-Greensburg Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and is an affiliated faculty member of the Jean Monnet European Union Center of Excellence and the Center for European Studies at the University of Pittsburgh's Oakland Campus. Adams holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, an M.A. in International Affairs from Florida State University, and a B.A. in International Studies from George Mason University.
His academic interests center on comparative politics and international relations, with particular emphasis on the politics of Europe—including Ireland, Northern Ireland, the European Union, corporatism, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany—as well as American foreign policy and international organizations. Adams has contributed chapters to edited volumes such as New Directions in Comparative Politics (2002), Authoritarianism and Corporatism in Latin America Revisited (2004), Globalization: Universal Trends, Regional Implications (2008), The Palgrave Handbook of Volunteering, Civic Participation, and Nonprofit Associations (2016), The Impact of Natural Disasters on Systemic Political and Social Inequities in the United States (2020), and The 2020 Presidential Election: Key Issues and Regional Dynamics (2022). He co-edited Western Europe and the United States: Foundations of Comparative Politics (2005) and The Impact of Natural Disasters on Systemic Political and Social Inequities in the United States (2020), and has published in Perceptions Journal of International Affairs, H-Net – Humanities and Social Sciences Online, EUSA Review, Utica College Center of Public Affairs Online, and Juxta. Currently, he is completing a book on governance possibilities in post-Brexit Northern Ireland. Adams has been recognized with the UPG Distinguished Service Award (2020-2021), UPG Distinguished Teaching Award (2010-2011), and Outstanding Faculty Award from the Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (2012-2013). He is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Theta Upsilon, the International Geographical Honor Society.
