Professor Paul Childerhouse serves as Head of Department, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, in the School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain at RMIT University, part of the College of Business and Law. He holds a PhD from Cardiff University, a BSc from Lancaster University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching. Prior to joining RMIT, Childerhouse was Professor in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Massey University, where he also acted as Associate Director of Logistics Research and contributed to the School of Food and Advanced Technology. His career encompasses extensive empirical research and auditing across multiple industries, providing firsthand insights into supply chain operations.
Childerhouse's research specializes in supply chain network resilience and sustainability, demand chain management, supply chain uncertainty and integration, and the transformation of agrifood supply chains in Southeast Asian and Australian contexts. He has gathered data from sectors including construction, pharmaceuticals, retail, automotive, pulp and paper, health services, third-party logistics providers, and food processing. With over 60 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Construction and Engineering Management, International Journal of Logistics Management, Production Planning and Control, International Journal of Production Economics, and OMEGA, his work has significant academic impact. Key publications include 'Enablers of supply chain integration: Interpersonal and interorganizational relationship perspectives' (2016), 'International and local NGO supply chain collaboration: An investigation of the Syrian refugee crises in Jordan' (2018), 'Towards a unified theory of supply chain value creation and capture' (2023), 'Navigating through STORMS: A review of supply chain resilience practices' (2026), and 'Sustainable agrifood value chain transformation in developing countries' (2021). Childerhouse has delivered keynote speeches, including at the IEOM Society conference in Melbourne (2023), and supervises Masters and PhD students while leading departmental initiatives in teaching and industry engagement.
