Paul Murphy is a Lecturer in the School of Education at Murdoch University. He serves as Executive Lead - First Year Experience, guiding the initial academic journey of education students. He is also Co-Academic Chair Professional Experience, overseeing practical training aspects of teacher education programs. In addition, he functions as a Unit Co-Ordinator for both undergraduate and postgraduate units within the Discipline of Education and holds the role of First Year Education Academic Advisor, supporting new students in their studies.
Paul Murphy's academic background includes a Higher Diploma in Arts in Primary Education from Hibernia College, Dublin, completed between 2004 and 2005. He previously earned an MA in History (Honours) in 2000 and a BA Honours in History and Sociology in 1999, both from Maynooth University. These qualifications provide a strong foundation in educational practice, history, and social sciences relevant to his teaching and research in education.
His research specializations and academic interests focus on teaching and learning, teaching experience, e-learning, online learning, technology enhanced learning, and blended learning. Paul Murphy collaborates on significant projects within the School of Education, including 'Stratified inequalities in access to senior secondary school STEM curricula' with Dr Audrey Fernandes-Satar. He contributes to the 'SimLab cultural experience' project, working with Associate Professor Peter Whipp, Dr Sian Chapman, Tania Corbett, Jen Featch, Dr Veronica Gardiner, Associate Professor Wendy Cumming-Potvin, Dr Chad Morrison, and Dr Audrey Fernandes-Satar. He has also co-authored 'Equity in Blended Learning Through a Proposed Framework Integrating Equitable Gaps with Lived Experiences' with Sian Chapman and Kirsten Lambert, addressing equity issues in modern higher education delivery.
