Grader Professor in Head and Neck Surgery, Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, and Head and Neck Clinical Fellowship Director in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary in 2003 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in 2007. Dr. Dziegielewski completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Alberta from 2007 to 2012 and a fellowship in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgical Oncology-Microvascular Reconstruction at The Ohio State University from 2012 to 2013. Board-certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, he joined the University of Florida faculty following his fellowship and has advanced to full professor status.
Dr. Dziegielewski's clinical expertise encompasses surgical resection of head and neck tumors and cancers of the oral cavity, jaws, throat, larynx, thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands, skin, and face using open surgery, minimally invasive approaches, and transoral robotic surgery (TORS). He performs advanced reconstructions with microvascular free flaps, pedicled flaps, and grafts, incorporating virtual surgical planning and 3D modeling for complex midface and jaw reconstructions to optimize speech, swallowing, cosmesis, and quality of life. His research focuses on improving functional outcomes, cancer survival, and post-treatment quality of life in head and neck cancer patients. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications on PubMed, notable works include 'Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for laryngeal and hypopharyngeal tumors' (Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2015), 'Intraoperative Brief Electrical Stimulation of the Spinal Accessory Nerve Reduces Postoperative Shoulder Impairments' (Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2018), 'Tumor volume as a predictor of survival in T3 glottic carcinoma' (American Journal of Otolaryngology, 2018), and 'Transoral robotic surgery for tonsillar cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis' (Oral Oncology, 2017). He has earned the Faculty Research Mentor of the Year Award and Faculty Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Florida, the Exemplary Teacher Award from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and the Customer Service Key Award from UF Health.
