About Peter

Peter Onyisi is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and applied mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2003 and a Ph.D. in physics from Cornell University in 2008. Following his doctorate, he held an Enrico Fermi Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago before joining the faculty at UT Austin.

His research focuses on the experimental investigation of electroweak symmetry breaking and searches for new particles and interactions, primarily as a member of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Onyisi also works on computing with large datasets of structured data. He received the American Physical Society’s Leroy Apker Award in 2004 for undergraduate research achievement.
