Peter Alan Todd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he leads the Experimental Marine Ecology Laboratory. He is an experimental marine ecologist who focuses on organism-environment interactions in nearshore waters, especially those close to urban centres. In both his curiosity-driven and translational work, he emphasises the design, build, implementation, and analysis of high-quality novel experiments. His research generates large quantities of new information and the great majority of his publications are data based. He is fundamentally concerned with increasing understanding of the ecology and functioning of tropical coastal marine organisms and communities.
Professor Todd serves as Editor-in-Chief for Oceanography and Marine Biology – An Annual Review since 2022, having previously been Series Editor from 2018 to 2022. He holds or has held associate editor, subject editor, review editor, and editorial board positions with journals including Nature in Singapore, Oikos, Aquatic Biology, the Raffles Bulletin of Zoology, PLoS ONE, the Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, and the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography. He is a member of the NUS Teaching Academy, having joined in 2014 and served as Vice Chair in 2020. He is also a Programme Committee member for the Masters of Environmental Management and has served as Director at the Tropical Marine Science Institute. Professor Todd received the Outstanding Educator Award from NUS.
