Rate My Professor Prakas Gopal Samy

Ir. Ts. Dr. Prakas Gopal Samy serves as Senior Lecturer at the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at Xiamen University Malaysia, where he teaches in the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme. He earned a PhD in Control Systems from Universiti Malaya in 2024, a Master of Engineering in Mechatronics from Universiti Malaya in 2014, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Hons) from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in 2010. With more than thirteen years of combined experience in academia and industry, he previously held leadership positions at SEGi University and Colleges, including Associate Dean of the Joint Faculty for Engineering, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, and Programme Leader. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and holds the title of Professional Technologist from the Malaysia Board of Technologists. Dr. Prakas is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a graduate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia.

His research focuses on AI-driven control systems and optimisation, robotics and automation for Industry 4.0, and Artificial Intelligence of Things-based smart manufacturing. Notable publications include the 2023 paper “Optimization of Chemotherapy Using Hybrid Optimal Control and Swarm Intelligence” in IEEE Access and the 2024 article “Optimizing Chemotherapy Treatment Outcomes Using Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms: A Case Study.” He has contributed to curriculum development, quality assurance, and industry-academia partnerships while promoting project-based learning and inclusive educational environments. Through these efforts Dr. Prakas supports the advancement of engineering education and interdisciplinary research at Xiamen University Malaysia.
