Professor Poh Seng Lee, also known as PS Lee, is Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He holds the position of Dean’s Chair Professor and serves as Executive Director of the Energy Studies Institute (ESI). He is also Director of the Centre for Energy Research and Technology (CERT) and Co-Director of the Singapore Energy Centre. Professor Lee obtained his BEng with first class honours and MEng from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS, and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He has been with NUS since 2007 and previously served as Assistant Dean of Research and Technology from 2015 to 2020.
His research focuses on thermal systems, including enhanced heat transfer, microchannel cooling, liquid cooling, flow boiling, and electronics cooling, with applications in sustainable data centre cooling and AI-ready digital infrastructure. Professor Lee is an ASME Fellow, a Fellow of the Energy Institute, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Singapore. He has received awards including the 2009 Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors Award and recognition at the 2011 Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit. He serves as Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer and IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology.
