Dr. Raejin Lee is an Associate Professor of Music, Associate Chair, and Director of Vocal Studies in the Department of Music at La Sierra University. Originally from Seoul, Korea, she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Rutgers University, studying with renowned soprano Faith Esham. Prior to that, she received an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music and both her Master of Music (MM) and Bachelor of Music (BM) degrees from Indiana University, where she served as a featured soloist with the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble. These accomplishments underscore her extensive training in vocal performance and pedagogy, preparing her for her leadership role in higher education.
As a professional soprano, Dr. Raejin Lee enjoys an active performing career spanning the United States, Italy, and Korea, encompassing oratorio, recitals, and opera. Her operatic repertoire features principal roles such as Adina in Donizetti's L’elisir d’amore, Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, Gretel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, Giulietta in Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Despina in Mozart's Così fan tutte, and Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief. Dr. Lee has garnered significant recognition, including a special prize from the Italian American Cultural Foundation for her distinguished interpretation of the Italian art song repertoire. Her achievements are further documented in prestigious reference publications such as Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. At La Sierra University, she directs the Vocal Studies program, which develops essential disciplines and skills for performers and music educators through a curriculum featuring choral ensembles, fully staged operas and musicals, master classes, student recitals, and opera and musical theatre scenes programs. The program emphasizes vocal technique, diction, art song, oratorio, church music, musical theatre, and opera, offering intensive professional training within a liberal arts framework. Dr. Lee holds memberships in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Music Teachers National Association through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC), and the College Music Society (CMS).
