Great Professor!
Dr Reena Ohm is a Specialist Prosthodontist and Clinical Lecturer in the School of Dentistry at the University of Queensland. She holds a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics from the University of Queensland, completed in 2023 with a thesis titled 'Accuracy of two intra-oral scanners for various ridge defects in partially dentate arches: a comparative in vitro study.' Her postgraduate research investigated the accuracy of intraoral scanners in digital impressions of partially edentulous ridges, presented at the 2022 AANZP Biennial Meeting. Before joining UQ, Dr Ohm accumulated vast experience in private practice and public hospitals, serving in the Emergency and Trauma departments at Westmead Hospital, Sydney Dental Hospital, and Wollongong Hospital. Her contributions to the Sydney West Area Health Service community were featured in the Illawarra News.
Dr Ohm's academic interests include advanced restorative techniques, oral rehabilitation, digital technologies in implant planning, fixed and removable prosthodontics, 3D printing, periodontics, occlusion, and contemporary ceramics. She authored the journal article 'Factors that influence the accuracy of intraoral scanning of partially edentulous arches: a narrative review,' published in 2022 in The Australian Journal of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Key conference presentations include 'Trueness and precision of intraoral scanners in partially dentate arches with ridge defects: a comparative study' and 'Colour mapping for trueness evaluation in a distal extension partially edentulous maxilla' at the 63rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the IADR ANZ Division in 2024, as well as 'Analysis of Trueness Deviation in a Kennedy’s Class II Arch' at the International College of Prosthodontists 21st Biennial Meeting in 2025. She also delivered talks on 'Planning and Design of Partial Dentures' at the Australian Dental Association CPD in 2024 and 'Materials and manufacturing processes in digital dentistry' at UQ Clinic Day 2024. For her thesis presentation, she was awarded the Research Medallion by the Australian Osseointegration Society. In her teaching role within the Doctor of Dental Medicine program, Dr Ohm adopts an interactive pedagogical approach to promote self-reflection, critical thinking, and collaborative multidisciplinary treatment planning for optimal patient outcomes.
