Robert Criss is the Stanley Deans Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics at the University of South Florida. He holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the American Physical Society and serves as Secretary of the Southeastern Section of the American Physical Society (SESAPS). Dr. Criss earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1993. Throughout his tenure at USF, he has played pivotal roles in undergraduate education, including Director of Undergraduate Programs, Undergraduate Program Coordinator, and Instructor in the Physics Department. These positions underscore his commitment to enhancing the educational experience for physics students.
In these capacities, Dr. Criss has provided guidance and resources aimed at helping students succeed in general physics courses. His administrative and teaching contributions have supported the department's undergraduate programs. Additionally, Dr. Criss has engaged in public outreach by presenting lectures that apply physics concepts to popular media, such as discussions on electricity in horror films associated with a screening of Young Frankenstein at the University of South Florida.
