Dr Robert Wells serves as a Lecturer in the speech pathology discipline at the Curtin School of Allied Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Speech Pathology and completed his PhD in 2022 at Curtin University. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Factors Influencing Access to Paediatric Speech Pathology Services in Western Australia," investigated facilitators and barriers to paediatric speech pathology service access, supervised by Professor Suze Leitão.
Wells specializes in speech and language pathology, with research focuses on service access and equity, developmental language disorder, and speech, language, and communication needs. He contributes to the Curtin EnAble Institute's Disability & Inclusion team and acts as Course Coordinator for the Master of Speech Pathology. His publications include "The model of access to speech-language pathology services" (2024, International Journal of Speech-Language Pathology); "Expanding the evidence base for the oral narrative inferential comprehension programme: a pilot within a speech-language pathology coaching model" (2025); "Narrative and Non-Narrative Discourse Skills in ADHD Across the Lifespan: A Systematic Review of the Literature" (2026, Journal of Attention Disorders); "Language sample analysis: a powerful tool in the school setting" (2017); and "The clinical application of SALT to evaluate intervention program effectiveness in a school context" (2018). Previously, he worked as a speech pathologist in education and held a sessional academic position.
