Robyn Gallagher

Robyn Gallagher is Professor of Nursing in the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Sydney, where she is based at the Charles Perkins Centre. A registered nurse (RN) with qualifications including BA, MN, and PhD, she leads a research team specializing in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Her academic interests encompass patient self-management, cardiac rehabilitation, contemporary health technologies including digital solutions, health literacy, and cognitive impairment in cardiovascular patients. Gallagher is an experienced educator and supervisor of higher degree research students.

Professor Gallagher's career includes appointments such as Precinct Academic Director for Nursing and Pharmacy, Northern Sydney Local Health District. She has received the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) on 26 January 2026 for distinguished service to nursing academia, to cardiovascular disease prevention and education. Other honors include Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, American Heart Association, and European Society of Cardiology, as well as the University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor's Award for HDR Supervisor of the Year. Her scholarly output comprises over 180 peer-reviewed publications and 16 book chapters, amassing more than 10,668 citations according to Google Scholar. She influences the field through leadership as Chair of the International Council of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation, immediate past President of the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association and the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and Associate Editor of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing. Gallagher contributes to committees, editorial boards, and public engagement in cardiovascular nursing.
