Rongbing Huang is a full Professor of Finance in the Economics, Finance & Quantitative Analysis Department at the Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University. He earned a PhD in Finance from the University of Florida in 2004, an MS from Virginia Tech, and a BA from People's University of China. Huang teaches principles of finance, corporate finance, and equity securities. His research interests encompass corporate finance, asset pricing, investment banking, and financing decisions of large and small businesses. He has published extensively in top-tier journals, including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, and Financial Review.
Huang's notable publications include "Corporate Cash Shortfalls and Financing Decisions" with Jay R. Ritter (Review of Financial Studies, 2021), "The Puzzle of Frequent and Large Issues of Debt and Equity" with Jay R. Ritter (Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2022), "Private Equity Firms’ Reputational Concerns and the Costs of Debt Financing" with Jay R. Ritter and Donghang Zhang (Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2016), "Managing Underwriters and the Marketing of Seasoned Equity Offerings" with Donghang Zhang (Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2011), and "Testing Theories of Capital Structure and Estimating the Speed of Adjustment" with Jay R. Ritter (Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 2009). The 2009 paper received the William F. Sharpe Award for Scholarship in Financial Research and over 1,200 citations according to Google Scholar. His work addresses seasoned equity offerings, IPOs, SPACs, relationship banking, loan syndicates, and debt markets. Huang has presented research at the American Finance Association and Western Finance Association meetings. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Corporate Finance. Awards include Coles College Distinguished Scholarship Awards (2021, 2008), Coles College Prizes for FT-50 Journal Publications (2020 for Review of Financial Studies and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis), Foundation Prizes for Publication (2017, 2012, 2010), and Coles Working Paper Awards (2018, 2015).
