Ruth Taylor is a Lecturer in the School of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University, where she serves as Course Lead for Tourism, Hospitality and Events. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Graduate Diploma in Education (GradDipEd) from the University of Western Australia, Postgraduate Diploma in Business (PGradDipBus) from Edith Cowan University, Master of Education Management (MEdMan) from the University of Western Australia, and she is currently a PhD candidate at Monash University. Taylor's career at Curtin spans research and teaching in management, with a focus on practical applications in hospitality and events.
Her research interests include teaching and learning, event and festival management, tourism, supply chain deception, and sustainable project management, evidenced by nearly 1,000 citations across 30 publications. Key works include 'Festival Management Innovation and Failure' in the International Journal of Event and Festival Management (2010), analyzing innovation challenges; 'Aspects of Training and Remuneration in the Accommodation Industry' in Education + Training (2004), investigating hospitality training strategies; 'A Classification of Deception in Operations and Supply Chain Management: A Case Study of Deception in Australian Souvenir Markets' (2019 conference paper); 'We Have to Integrate to Engage in Change: Exploring Sustainable Project Management' (2019); 'Factors Influencing International Students' Choice of an Education Destination - A Correspondence Analysis'; 'Discriminating Factors of First-Time and Repeat Visitors to Wine Festivals'; and 'Attributes for Staging Successful Wine Festivals' (2002).
