About Saji Kumar

Saji Kumar Sreedharan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has been affiliated with NUS since 2012 and serves as Research Director of the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme. His research focuses on the neural basis of long-term memory formation, synaptic tagging and capture mechanisms, metaplasticity, aging, and neurodegeneration. Sreedharan earned his master’s degree in physiology from the University of Calicut in India, where he conducted his dissertation under Prof. T. Ramakrishna. He subsequently worked at the Defence Research and Development Organisation before pursuing his Ph.D. under Prof. Julietta Frey at the University of Magdeburg in Germany. Following his doctorate, he completed postdoctoral training with Prof. Martin Korte at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Sreedharan has received several honors, including the Faculty Research Excellence Award from NUS for the 2016/2017 academic year and an Investigator award from the International Association for the Study of Neurons and Brain Diseases. He is also a recipient of a Humboldt Research Fellowship. In addition to his research leadership, Sreedharan has been recognized with the 2026 NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Graduate Mentor of the Year award.
