Sarah Armstrong holds the position of Adjunct Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University, located at the Lismore campus. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts (BA) qualification. Her distinguished career encompasses journalism, literary authorship, and creative writing education. Previously, she served as a Walkley award-winning journalist at ABC Radio, where she excelled in reporting and storytelling. This professional foundation has shaped her academic contributions, enabling her to impart practical insights into narrative craft to students at Southern Cross University.
With more than twenty years of experience, Sarah Armstrong has taught creative writing at prestigious writers' festivals including the Byron Writers Festival, within programs at Southern Cross University, and in schools. Her teaching methodology is practical and craft-based, focusing on the development of writing skills. In 2019, she joined to teach units in the Associate Degree of Creative Writing and the Graduate Diploma of Creative Writing. As an accomplished author, she has published five novels, including Salt Rain (2004), which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Additional titles are Promise and His Other House. Her most recent novels target readers aged 8 and above. Through teaching and writing, Sarah Armstrong enriches creative writing education at Southern Cross University.
