About Scott

Scott Bianco is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Mathematics Department at Hudson Valley Community College, where he joined as an Instructor in 2016. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University at Albany, State University of New York, completed in 2012, with a dissertation entitled "Random processes of the form X(n+1) = AnXn + Bn (mod p) in Two Dimensions." This work examines random iterative processes in two-dimensional modular arithmetic. He also earned an M.A. in Mathematics from the same institution and a B.S. from SUNY Plattsburgh. Previously, the department was known as the Mathematics and Engineering Science Department.

At Hudson Valley Community College, Scott Bianco teaches foundational and intermediate mathematics courses, including Precalculus (MATH-170), Calculus I (MATH-180), and Elementary Statistics (MATH-135). He is recognized as a Featured OER Champion for MATH-135, supporting the adoption of open educational resources such as OpenStax materials to reduce costs for students and improve access to quality instructional content. In 2024, he was selected as a SUNY Online Teaching Ambassador representing Hudson Valley Community College, promoting excellence in online pedagogy across the SUNY system.
