Dr. Read's research specializations center on dementia, encompassing de-stigmatizing dementia, overcoming ageism, improving community and professional attitudes toward people living with dementia, family carers' understandings of expectations, and enhancing participation in care planning. Key publications include 'Experiences and expectations of living with dementia: A qualitative study' (Collegian, 2017; 79 citations), 'The participation of people with dementia in the planning of dementia care and support services: Findings from a grounded theory study' (Dementia, 2020; 25 citations), 'A qualitative exploration of family carer's understandings of people with dementia's expectations for the future' (Dementia, 2021), 'Development of the dementia community attitudes questionnaire' (Dementia, 2021; 7 citations), and 'Dementia awareness raising forum: Improving attitudes towards people living with dementia' (Dementia, 2024).
