Sherry Webb, DNSc, RN, CNL, NEA-BC, served as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Acute and Tertiary Care in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc). With a nursing career spanning over 43 years as of 2015, Webb dedicated much of her professional life to advancing nursing education and leadership. She retired from UTHSC at the end of 2025 after contributing significantly to faculty development and program coordination, including serving as CNL Option Coordinator.
Webb's research and academic interests centered on clinical nurse leader (CNL) education, nursing leadership, quality and safety in nursing curricula, academic-practice partnerships, and care coordination. Key publications include "A Model for Preparing Faculty to Teach Model C Clinical Nurse Leader Students," co-authored with Leslie McKeon and published in the Journal of Nursing Education in 2014; "Using Quality and Safety Education for Nurses to Guide Curricular Threads," with Terri McKown in the same journal in 2011; "Development of a COVID-19 Alternate Care Site from Preparedness to Activation," in Nursing Forum in 2020; "Journey to a New Era: An Innovative Academic-Practice Partnership," in the Journal of Professional Nursing in 2022; and "Care Coordination and Transition Management: A New Course to Prepare Prelicensure Students," with Janet Adams Tucker in the Journal of Nursing Education in 2023. She represented Nursing on the Faculty Affairs Work Group and hosted the 2020 William T. Cashdollar Distinguished Visiting Professorship. Webb supported initiatives such as the Dedicated Education Unit program, enhancing clinical instruction and interprofessional collaboration. Her contributions influenced nursing education in acute and tertiary care settings.
