Critchett's academic credentials encompass a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes from Curtin University awarded in 2017 and a Master of Philosophy in Nursing and Midwifery completed at the same institution in 2021. The focus of her master's research was captured in the thesis titled "Exploring the Experiences of Breastfeeding Women Whose Partners are Fly-in, Fly-out in Perth Western Australia," which addresses the specific challenges encountered by breastfeeding mothers whose partners engage in fly-in fly-out employment schedules prevalent in Western Australia.
In her scholarly contributions, Critchett co-authored the peer-reviewed article "An Interprofessional Simulation-Based Learning Activity for Nursing and Physiotherapy Students," published in Clinical Simulation in Nursing (Volume 13, Issue 10, page A22) in October 2017, alongside colleagues Diane Dennis, Anne Furness, and Ravani Duggan. This work emphasizes the use of simulation-based learning to cultivate interprofessional competencies among nursing and physiotherapy students, underscoring its role in preparing future healthcare professionals for collaborative practice. Critchett is affiliated with the JBI Evidence Informed Health Care Curtin University group and holds the leadership role of Chair for the Western Australia Branch of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association. Through her teaching, coordination of specialized diabetes education courses, clinical expertise, and research in simulation and interprofessional education, Critchett significantly impacts nursing pedagogy and diabetes management training at Curtin University.
