Prof. Dr. Susanne Illenberger serves as Dean of the School of Science and Distinguished Lecturer in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Constructor University. She has been teaching biochemistry and cell biology at the institution, formerly known as Jacobs University Bremen, since 2007. She completed her studies of biology at the University of Hannover, Germany, in 1992. From 1993 to 1996, she pursued her PhD in biology in Hamburg. Following her doctorate, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Unit for Structural Molecular Biology at DESY in Hamburg. Between 1998 and 2003, she held the position of scientific assistant at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where she earned her habilitation and received teaching permission in cell biology, serving as a private lecturer until 2007.
Her academic career focuses on biochemistry and cell biology, with contributions to research on tau protein, microtubule-associated proteins, and related cellular mechanisms.
