About Simone

Dr. Simone Schueller is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in the UWA Medical School and an Honorary Research Associate at The Kids Research Institute Australia (Telethon Kids Institute). She obtained her MD from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, in 2006 and her PhD in Neonatal Immunology from Maastricht University in 2018. Her academic career includes a paediatric residency completed at the Medical University of Vienna in 2017, a research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where she established a CyTOF protocol for immune ontogeny studies, and since 2018, roles as a Postdoc researcher and Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia. She also serves as a Neonatology Fellow and Senior Registrar at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital.

Schueller’s research specializations encompass immunomodulation for preventive and therapeutic strategies in neonates and comparative immune ontogeny in neonates and adults to inform vaccine adjuvant development. She has earned notable awards, including the Paediatric Research Early Career Investigator Award in 2017 and the Max Kade Research Fellowship by the Austrian Academy of Science in 2016.
