Susan Gallagher is a distinguished expert in health communication and injury prevention, with an appointment in the Department of Socio-Behavioral Sciences at Boston University School of Public Health. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from Boston University in 1980 and a Bachelor of Arts from Simmons College. Currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, Gallagher previously directed the MS Program in Health Communication there. Her academic background and extensive career have positioned her as a key figure in public health communications, particularly in translating research into actionable policy and practice.
Gallagher's research specializations encompass health communication, injury and violence prevention—including child and adolescent injury prevention, agricultural safety, traffic safety, and advocacy—as well as data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, content analysis, participant observation, and project management.
