Susana Tiew Hung Hsia is the Head of Department for Arts and Commerce within the School of Pre-University and Continuing Education (SPACE), part of the Office of Learning and Teaching at Curtin University Malaysia in Miri, Sarawak. As an Associate Teaching Fellow, she oversees the delivery of foundation and diploma programs that prepare students for entry into undergraduate degrees across various faculties. Susana Tiew has demonstrated leadership in educational milestones and innovations at Curtin Malaysia. She participated in the graduation ceremony for the institution's first cohort of diploma graduates on February 6, which included 28 students from the Diploma of Commerce, Diploma of Information Technology, and Diploma of Media Studies programs, where she gave a thumbs-up to the Diploma of Commerce graduates. In 2024, she was a successful recipient of the Curtin Malaysia Teaching Innovation Project (CMTIP) grant for her team's project titled 'Personalizing Learning using Kahoot! in Diploma and Foundation Units,' with team members Delon Chai Wei How and Michelle Phua Siew Huei. Additionally, as Project Coordinator for the 'Supporting Boarding Students: Learning Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Creativity Together' initiative, funded by the Curtin Malaysia Community Engagement (CMCE) 2025 Grant, she empowered students from Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang College. Tiew stated, 'It is about empowering students to think critically, make informed choices, and discover their creative potential. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them leave more confident and inspired.'
