Associate Professor Syed Fasihullah serves as Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at Griffith University, an appointment that recognizes his clinical skills and academic excellence. He holds the qualifications MBBS, DCH, and FRACP, with training completed at Australia's most prestigious teaching hospitals for paediatrics: Westmead Children's Hospital in Sydney, The Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne where he completed a neonatal fellowship, Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, and Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane. As a consultant paediatrician based at Gold Coast University Hospital, he also maintains practices at private hospitals such as Pindara Private Hospital and Gold Coast Private Hospital. His areas of special interest include general paediatrics, neonatology, child development and behaviour, ADHD and Autism, medical education, and epilepsy, with previous membership in the Queensland Epilepsy Network. Dr. Fasihullah is accredited in Advanced Paediatric Life Support and has served as a former instructor.
Dr. Fasihullah contributes to medical education through his university role and scholarly work. He is a co-author of the 2014 publication 'Dedicated paediatric teaching remains critical to the undergraduate medical curriculum' in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, advocating alongside leading paediatricians for the essential role of specialized paediatric training in undergraduate medical programs. He has further been acknowledged for contributions to research projects, including a longitudinal birth cohort study on parental-reported allergic disorders and emergency department presentations for allergy in children during their first five years of life, involving collaborations with Griffith University researchers and Queensland health institutions. Fluent in three languages, Dr. Fasihullah demonstrates strong cross-cultural communication skills, enhancing his effectiveness in diverse clinical settings on the Gold Coast.
