Professor Sylvie Alonso is a faculty member in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). She holds the position of full Professor, effective 1 January 2026, having previously served as Associate Professor. Professor Alonso obtained her PhD degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon I in France in 1998.
Her research focuses on infectious diseases, including RNA virology, therapeutics, and vaccinology, with interests in host-pathogen interactions. She serves as Co-Chair of the Infectious Diseases Translational Research Programme (ID TRP) at NUS and as Deputy Director of the Immunology programme at the Life Sciences Institute, NUS.
