Dr. Tania Lim is a communications and media scholar who served as Lecturer in Communication and Singapore Discipline Lead (Communication & Society, Creative Media, Arts and Design) at Murdoch University's Singapore campus from August 2014 to May 2024. She holds a PhD from Queensland University of Technology, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BSocSc from the National University of Singapore. During her tenure at Murdoch University, she contributed to teaching in communication and society, led disciplinary programs, and engaged in research aligned with the School of Media and Communication.
Lim's academic interests focus on media governance, public service broadcasting in the digital era, Asian popular culture and media flows, digital cultures, cyberwellness, algorithmic media practices, crisis communication, and news-sharing behaviors. Her key publications include 'New digital realities and old public service broadcasting models: the case of Singapore' (2017, Media International Australia), which critiques PSB adaptation challenges; 'Editorial and Critical Reflections on the future of identity moments and social media in China and beyond' (2020, Global Media and China, co-authored with Terence Lee and Weiyu Zhang); 'Stakeholder engagement and chaotic narrative spaces: Singapore's COVID-19 outbreak in foreign-worker dormitories' (2024, Communication Research and Practice, with Elaine Xu and Howard Lee); 'Infodemic: the effect of death-related thoughts on news-sharing' (2021, Behavioural Public Policy, with Amy J.
