Dr. Teresa Munecas is Chairperson, Clinical Associate Professor, and Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physical Therapy at Florida International University's Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She is designated as Graduate Faculty. Munecas earned a Bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in 1999, followed by a Master of Physical Therapy from FIU in 2002, after which she passed her state boards and became licensed as a physical therapist by the state of Florida. She worked in clinical practice across public school systems, private sector settings, and home health, serving pediatric and geriatric patients. Advancing her credentials, she received a Doctor of Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University in 2008 and a Doctor of Education in Health Professions from the same institution in May 2022.
In 2012, Munecas began at FIU as an adjunct professor in the Physical Therapy department, teaching Neuro Diagnosis and Management III (PHT 6169L) and assisting in course development and assessment. She was hired full-time in May 2015 as Director of Clinical Education and Clinical Assistant Professor, later promoted to Clinical Associate Professor. Her research emphasizes pediatric and educational research to promote clinical practice, curriculum assessment, and development, with interests in clinical education, physical therapy care, and mobility.
