Tiffany Breckenridge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she also holds the position of Child Welfare Program Director. A proud alumna of the institution, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She further advanced her education with a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from the University of St. Thomas in 2022. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Breckenridge possesses extensive professional practice experience spanning child protective services, medical social work, intimate partner violence intervention, and clinical supervision. Prior to her tenure-track appointment, she contributed as an adjunct instructor in an online MSW program, and she now primarily teaches in the MSW program at Minnesota State University, Mankato. In her leadership role, she oversees the Title IV-E Child Welfare Stipend Program, which provides financial support and training to social work students committed to child welfare careers, fostering the next generation of practitioners in this critical field.
Breckenridge's research centers on culturally responsive social work practice, including ongoing analysis of pertinent data to inform practice improvements. Her scholarship is evidenced by key publications such as "Clinician Perspectives: Exploring Adverse Childhood Experiences of Patients with End-Stage Kidney Disease," the second article stemming from her dissertation and published early in 2025, and "HIV/AIDS orphans in South Africa: NGO interventions supporting transitions to alternative care," released in 2017. She has actively disseminated her findings through numerous presentations, including three delivered to Mayo Clinic professionals, five at the MSSA State Conference in 2024 and 2025, and two at the Minnesota State University, Mankato Center for Rural Behavioral Health. Named Title IV-E Program Director effective July 2025, Breckenridge plays a pivotal role in securing funding and programmatic success, such as through the Child Welfare Stipend Program recognized in university research awards. Her integrated approach bridges clinical practice, education, and research, significantly impacting social work education and child welfare services at Minnesota State University, Mankato and beyond.
