Tim Fitts is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of English in the Department of English and Philosophy at Drexel University’s College of Arts and Sciences. He teaches foundational writing courses including ENGL 101 and ENGL 103, with thematic focuses such as “Exploring Love & Loss,” featuring multi-ethnic stories; “Examining the Creative Process,” with readings from Franz Kafka, Herman Hesse, Arthur Miller, Gina Berriault, and Sharon Salzberg; and others centered on music and personal narratives. Fitts holds a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from the University of Maryland. Since 2015, he has also served on the liberal arts faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music.
Fitts is an accomplished short story writer and novelist whose work has been recognized at Drexel’s annual Celebrating Drexel Authors events. His published books include The Soju Club (2016), published as a Korean translation in South Korea; Hypothermia (2017, MadHat Press); and Go Home and Cry for Yourselves (2017, Xavier Review Press). His short stories have appeared in distinguished literary journals including the Gettysburg Review, Granta, Shenandoah, Contrapuntos, The Big Windows Review, The Indicia Review, Midway Journal, Evening Street Press, The Penn Review, Santa Fe Writers Project Quarterly, and the Madison Review. Specific publications encompass the flash fiction “Coyotes” in Contrapuntos (2022); “Flies” and “Chimpanzee” (2022); “Gigi,” “Joe’s Car” in The Indicia Review, and “Travco” in Midway Journal (2021); “Torque” republished in Santa Fe Writers Project Quarterly (2020); and “Home Fries” in the Madison Review (2016). Fitts earned a Special Mention in the 2013 Pushcart Prize. His photography features as cover art for The New England Review (2022) and in exhibitions such as “Sintanjin 6.” He contributes to the literary community as a member of the editorial staff at Painted Bride Quarterly.
