Ting Huang serves as Instructor of Photography and Associate Professor of Photography at Tarrant County College District's Northeast Campus, where she also holds the position of Department Chair of Communication Arts. She earned a bachelor's degree in music composition from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master's degree in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2014. Huang began her academic journey at Tarrant County College as a student before advancing to faculty and leadership roles. She oversees the Photography program, which offers both fine arts and commercial paths with courses such as ARTS-2356 Photography I, ARTS-2357 Photography II, PHTC-1300 Photo Digital Imaging I, PHTC-1343 Expressive Photography, PHTC-1353 Portraiture I, PHTC-2331 Architectural Photography, PHTC-2343 Portfolio Development, and PHTC-2349 Photo Digital Imaging II. The program features state-of-the-art facilities including traditional darkrooms with 24 and 13 enlargers, digital print rooms with Epson large format printers, a professional studio, alternative processing lab, and equipment checkout for various cameras, tripods, light meters, and kits. Two full-time staff support these resources, and a gallery space hosts student and external artist exhibitions.
Huang's photographic work explores themes of cultural hybridity and blended environments, drawing from personal experiences such as a family funeral in Taiwan that juxtaposed traditional Chinese attire with a Western suit cutout. Her solo exhibition, Hybrid Landscape, showcased these observations at Amarillo College's Southern Light Gallery from March 4 through April 10. She curated "Being 20, Fort Worth, Texas Edition," selected for display in Reggio Emilia, Italy, featuring Photography Department students and faculty. Huang has participated in group exhibitions including Tarrant County College Northeast Campus Art Faculty & Staff Exhibition, The YPs: New Photography in Fort Worth, Lines Run Through at The Grackle Art Gallery, and This is America. In 2021, she presented "Preserving History through Photography" at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. As an educator, she integrates LinkedIn Learning for advanced storytelling classes and responds to campus challenges like equipment theft by enhancing security and reassuring students of the program's safe, creative environment. Her guidance helps students develop portfolios and enter professional photography careers.
