Dr. U. Suresh Kumar is a Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at M.I.E.T. Engineering College in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He joined the college on June 27, 2018, as a regular faculty member, bringing more than 26 years of professional experience in engineering education and research. Qualified with M.E. and Ph.D. degrees, Dr. Kumar has held key leadership positions within the institution, including his current role as Head of ECE and previous service as Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department. He is actively involved in academic governance as a member of the college's Academic Council, contributing to strategic decisions on curriculum delivery and institutional development.

Recognized as a research supervisor by Anna University since 2016 in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Dr. U. Suresh Kumar's academic interests encompass cost and size optimization in hybrid renewable energy sources, solar energy, wind energy, and power quality improvement. Prior to his tenure at M.I.E.T. Engineering College, he was associated with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Mohamed Sathak Engineering College, where he contributed to research on stand-alone wind/PV/diesel hybrid systems for telephone transceiver stations in rural Tamil Nadu areas. His extensive experience and research focus underscore his commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and electronics engineering education. Dr. Kumar continues to guide research scholars and foster innovation in renewable energy technologies and power systems within the engineering discipline.
