Whitley Bejah is a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at Griffith University's Griffith Business School. With over 12 years of professional experience in the financial planning industry, she previously served as a Senior Financial Planner and currently works as a Senior Mortgage Broker at Financial Partners (Tas) Pty Ltd. This extensive industry background informs her teaching and research, offering students practical insights into financial planning and economics. Bejah earned her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Class I and Master of Financial Planning from Griffith University between 2014 and 2016. She is a PhD candidate, developing a research concept titled "Mind, Body, Wallet and Endometriosis," which uses mixed-methods to explore the connections between chronic health conditions, pain management, and financial wellbeing.
Bejah's research focuses on personal financial planning, behavioural economics, financial wellbeing, and endometriosis and pain management. She has contributed to funded research through the project "Mindset Matters in Financial Planning: How mindset and priming influence personal financial wellbeing," co-authored with Tracey West and Mirela Malin, resulting in a 2023 journal article draft. As a recognised personal finance researcher and lecturer in finance and economics, Bejah engages in public discussions on financial literacy measurement and superannuation access issues, enhancing awareness of behavioural influences on financial decisions. Her integrated approach to academia and practice underscores her commitment to advancing knowledge in financial wellbeing and related interdisciplinary areas within Business & Economics.
